Private house

Italy

As part of a larger urban redevelopment project, it was possible to renovate the attic of a commercial building, thus obtaining a two-storey dwelling.

The spirit of this project comes from the dialectic between tradition and modernity, between historical heritage — the context and the building envelope — and my work on the interior, on light, color and material.

A measured dwelling, cared for in every small detail and with great constructive refinement. Another renovation and interior design intervention that takes up previous work and experiences in continuity with a creative process that rejects the separation of the building project from the design of interior, plant and lighting. An integrated and comprehensive design that, since the first conceptual phases, defines the detail between poetic vision and concrete technical feasibility, between formal intuition and executive solution, in a continuous swing of the observation distance, from the detail to the general vision of the project and again to the detail, and so on, in a succession of verifications, revisions and confirmations.

A creative process that culminates in the interior fitting of the spaces, full of confirmations of the choices matured and of wonder for the unfolding of the scene, as every time. Because there is wonder in the development of the work of the people who contribute to the realization, masons, electricians, plumbers, blacksmiths, carpenters, painters, upholsterers, etc., how involved in a large orchestra! The architect has the arduous task of governing all this.

I have great respect for these people, of whom I now feel affection, all dear to me, faithful and precious collaborators.

I like to think that all this (work, passion, effort, sacrifice) remains in the work and comes out as beauty. A discreet beauty indifferent to trends and taste.
